CORETRAP
is a nylon-mesh cone trap specifically designed
to capture adults of the European Corn Borer (ECB
- Ostrynia nubilalis) and other similar
moths (Heliotis armigera, Autographa gamma,
Chrysodeixis chalcites, Mythinna uniouncta, Sesamia
nonagrioides).
- The
trap is typically baited with specific pheromones
(ecotype E, Z, or EZ) and phenylacethaldeide (PAA)
for capturing ECB males and females, respectively.
A large body of research
has demonstrated that monitoring the flight of ECB
females would be helpful in designing strategies
for a successful control of this pest. Obviously,
CORETRAP can also be baited with other specific
pheromones for capturing the other above mentioned
moths.

CORETRAP is a robust, durable, ease to use and to
transport trap. CORETRAP is easily installed in
just a few minutes. Trapsare equipped with a basket
cylinder which can be capped and transported to
lab thus facilitating enumeration of captured months
and further manipulations (see trap
scheme).

would also provide a DNA service for analyzing selected
fragment of ECB DNA isolated from adults or larvae.
DNA sequence would be helpful for a correct identification
of ecotypes (E, Z, E-Z). DNA service is rapid, accurate
and low costing.
